'Arrested Development': Banana Stand pops up in New York

Hundreds of New Yorkers Monday met down at the Big Yellow Joint.

A real-life replica of the famous Bluth Company Banana Stand from the TV show "Arrested Development" sprang up across from Radio City Music Hall yesterday, giving out free frozen, chocolate-dipped bananas to fans gearing up for the debut of the show's fourth season on Netflix later this month.

"We've been fans for a long time, and it's the only day it'll be here so how could we miss it," said Ali Schnitzer, 19, who made the trip to midtown from Westchester with her friend just to see the stand and waited in line for about an hour and 15 minutes to get their bananas.

Added her friend Jackie Quartner, 21: "This is such a really fun idea, and it's super true to the show. We're excited for our bananas!"

The stand is set to return Tuesday in Columbus Circle.

The cult classic, which was cancelled in 2006, will return for its Netflix-only fourth season on May 26 about seven years after the show was unceremoniously given the hook in 2006.

Though it was never a ratings blockbuster, the enormous online culture that emerged around the show after its cancellation swayed the cast and producers to revive the failed Bluth Company for more season, with rumors of a movie persisting.
