Who says there are no jobs for English majors?
Actor and tech investor Ashton Kutcher has been advertising on a Columbia University undergraduate English major listserv for an "excellent and versatile writer with strong management skill" to join "a small team of designers and engineers who are cofounding a consumer-oriented technology company."
The ad for the unnamed company, which was reprinted on salon.com, said the successful candidate would be required to relocate to LA to write daily creative pieces, screen and hire an editorial team, and work with the site's founders to curate content that "will reach millions of people." No salary was mentioned.
Kutcher, was worth almost $40 million in 2010, according to the website Hollyworth.com. But since then, he contracted for a starring role on "Two and a Half Men" that is rumored to pay between $625,000 and $900,000 per episode." Kutcherhas also received attention in the technology press for percipient investments in many startups, from Skype to airBnB.
A call to Kutcher's publicist was not returned.
