Eight people, including at least six elected officials, secretly taped by former state Sen. Shirley Huntley are part of ongoing law enforcement investigations, federal prosecutors said in Brooklyn Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge Jack Weinstein, who is set to sentence Huntley on Thursday, ordered unsealing of the names of all the individuals she recorded because of a media request. Weinstein stayed his ruling for 24 hours to allow prosecutors to appeal.

The judge said public confidence in his sentencing of Huntley required a sentencing memorandum detailing her cooperation with the FBI and containing the names to be unsealed. He said those recorded were already on notice because of news reports and a government filing indicating that she taped people last June, July and August.
