Auction raises $2.4M for environmental groups
A benefit auction held in New York City and online has raised a total of $2.4 million for four environmental groups.
Christie’s says its “Green Auction” will benefit the Central Park Conservancy, Conservation International, Oceana, and the Natural Resources Defense Council.
The auction was held live in New York City and April; an online portion concluded last week.
Among the top bids was $60,000 for a behind-the-scenes preview of the Barneys holiday windows with the Barneys creative director.
A one-hour tennis lesson with John McEnroe went for $15,000.
Among celebrities attending the live event last month were Salma
Hayek, Sam Waterston and Candice Bergen.
