Authorities are looking for a person who tossed a kitten out of a moving car on the Verrazano Bridge.

An Animal Care & Control officer who happened to be driving on the bridge says he witnessed the heartless act. He says he stopped his car — and with the help of some concerned truck drivers who helped blocked traffic — safely rescued the kitten, which was close to the edge of the bridge. An AC&C spokesman says it happened on Saturday.

The 5-month-old black kitten was taken to AC&C’s Staten Island facility, where a checkup revealed no injuries. Staff members named the tabby, “Verrazano.”

AC&C is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may be interested in adopting Verrazano to contact them at info(at)nycacc.org.
