Avalanche take MacKinnon first in draft
As expected, the Avalanche selected Nathan MacKinnon with the first overall selection in the 2013 NHL Draft on Sunday at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
MacKinnon, a fast center playing for the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, was projected to go No. 1 overall through the pre-draft process. He will turn 18 on Sept. 1.
