NEW YORK (AP) — The Fire Department says three people, including a baby, have died following a Bronx apartment blaze.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman and the baby died at a hospital.
Four other civilians and two firefighters suffered minor injuries.
The fire was reported shortly before 8 a.m. Firefighters were on scene in three minutes and controlled the blaze in about a half-hour.
The FDNY says the fire apparently started in a fifth-floor bedroom and spread to the living room. The apartment is in a six-story building.
Fire marshals and the police were investigating the cause.
