Baby Hope's suspected killer charged
The Manhattan district attorney's office Thursday charged a relative of Anjelica "Baby Hope" Castillo with her murder more than 20 years after her death.
Conrado Juarez, 52, was charged in the 1991 murder of the 4-year-old girl whose body was found in a cooler on the side of the Henry Hudson Parkway. She was known only as Baby Hope until cold-case detectives identified her this year.
"For more than two decades, detectives and prosecutors never gave up on finding the identity of Baby Hope and bringing her killer to justice," DA Cy Vance said in a statement.
Juarez pleaded not guilty after allegedly confessing to sexually abusing and smothering Castillo.
