For one night only, President Barack Obama is taking his fundraising act to Broadway.
Armed with a goal of raking in $1 billion for his 2012 re-election campaign, the president will be back in the Big Apple to attend Thursday’s performance of “Sister Act” at the Broadway Theatre.
Tickets will range from $250 for mezzanine seats and as much as $10,000 for VIP tickets that include a photo with Obama. Show producer Whoopi Goldberg, who starred in the movie version of the musical and is a vocal Obama supporter, will hold a pre-show reception for $1,000 a head.
The president has been a regular day-tripper to Manhattan since announcing his re-election bid in April, attending fundraising dinners at the Red Rooster in Harlem and the Waldorf-Astoria.
Security in midtown will be tight Thursday night when Obama’s itinerary includes speaking at the annual LGBT Leadership Gala at the Sheraton New York, which coincides with other 2011 NYC Pride events. Tickets range from $1,250 to $35,800, according to the invite.
