Barry Bonds found guilty of lying about steroids

Barry Bonds is officially in the “hall of shame.”

The former slugger, 46, was found guilty of obstruction of justice in regard to his testimony to a grand jury in the 2003 steroid investigation of the BALCO laboratory in San Francisco.

However, the judge declared a mistrial on the other three counts and dismissed the jury without asking them to return to deliberations.

U.S. Attorney Melinda Haag told Bloomberg News that her office will decide “as soon as possible” if they are going to retry Bonds on the other three charges.

The former Giant and Pirate great, who has the most home runs (762) in baseball history, reportedly faces up to 10 years in federal prison, though it’s unlikely he’d receive anything close to that.

Bonds last played in 2007, the year he broke Hank Aaron’s home run record.
