Bastille Week set to kick off in New York
New York is about to get some French flavor, as Bastille Week kicks off Monday, celebrating French culture and food with events and restaurant deals citywide.
Now in its third year, Bastille Week events will sweep through the city, including a Petanque tournament on Thursday and a Bastille Day ball on Friday before culminating with a street fair on Sunday.
The week coincides with French Restaurant Week, during which dozens of French restaurants in Manhattan will offer special meals at $17.89 - a price that reflects the year the French Revolution began.
Here are some of the week's events:
July 8-14: French Restaurant Week throughout Manhattan, visit frenchrestaurantweek.com for participating restaurants
July 11: Cercle Rouge Bastille Day - Petanque Tournament (241 West Broadway)
July 12: Bastille Day Ball at Club 404 (404 10th Ave., starts at 6:30 p.m., more info at bastilledayball.org)
