Even though Hurricane Sandy hasn't hit near Gotham yet, thousands of New Yorkers woke up to find it had already knocked out their power.

More than 3,600 people were without electricity early Monday morning, Con Ed said, blaming the outages on early damage from the storm.

"With the storm coming in, we do anticipate that we are going to have other outages," spokeswoman Sara Banda said Monday morning.

“These numbers will fluctuate throughout the day,” she said, adding, “They will rise.”

Service was slammed the worst in sections of Brooklyn and Queens, with about 1,900 and 1,340 outages in those boroughs, respectively. Most outages in Brooklyn were reported in Flatbush and the majority of those in Queens were in Rego Park, according to Con Ed, which said it hoped to have power restored by Monday afternoon.
