Aaron Carter I recently received a news release promoting Aaron Carter's upcoming concert tour, which claims that Carter has now performed "450 shows on Broadway's 'The Fantasticks.'" However, "The Fantasticks" is in reality an Off-Broadway production that happens to play at a theater with a Broadway street address. By their logic, I too am appearing on Broadway since the office building where I work during the day is located on Broadway. Perhaps I am even eligible for a Tony Award! 
 'Vanya and Sonia' to move to Broadway Christopher Durang's "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike," which premiered last fall at Lincoln Center Theater's Off-Broadway space, will transfer to Broadway's Golden Theater for a limited run starting March 5. The original cast, including David Hyde Pierce and Sigourney Weaver, will go along for the ride. This modern riff on Chekhov was one of the best plays of the fall and I really look forward to seeing it again. 
 'Woolf' to shutter a bit earlier than expected The new Broadway revival of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" which received many critical accolades but largely failed to catch on with ticket buyers, will close on March 3, despite a previous announcement that it would run through March 24. Not surprisingly, playwright Edward Albee derided the Great White Way as "junk" in a television interview with CBS last Sunday. 
 Martin's 'Evita' revival failed to turn a profit Despite Ricky Martin's star power and consistent grosses of more than a million dollars a week, the Broadway revival of "Evita," which closed last Saturday night, was ultimately unable to turn a profit, as found by Bloomberg.com through a detailed analysis of the show's financial records. Frankly, I'm just disappointed that I didn't get to see the production again with an Evita who could sing and a Che who could act. Barney Frank to join 'Fiorello!' cast for a day Former Rep. Barney Frank will make a cameo at the Saturday evening performance of "Fiorello!" He will play a conservative senator who debates LaGuardia over the merits of supporting a World War I-era draft act. 
 'Mean' musical moves forward Speaking of a movie that might actually translate into a stage musical, Tina Fey confirmed to E! News at the SAG Awards that a musical version of her 2004 film "Mean Girls," which starred Lindsay Lohan, is in the works. She noted that her husband Jeff Richmond, who has written music for "30 Rock," would also be involved, and jokingly suggested that Mariah Carey should play the crazy mom of high school queen bee Regina George.
