All-star cast does reading of 'Into the Woods' script Oh, to have been a fly on the wall during the private reading of the screenplay of the upcoming film of "Into the Woods," which was held this week in Manhattan. As reported by Playbill.com, the cast included Donna Murphy (Witch), Nina Arianda (Baker's Wife), James Corden (Baker), Christine Baranski (Stepmother), Patrick Wilson (Cinderella's Prince), Cheyenne Jackson (Rapunzel's Prince), Laura Osnes (Rapunzel) and Allison Janney (Jack's Mother). 
 Troubled 'Rebecca' finally collapses and is called off After weeks of speculation, delays and stories about an investor who either died of malaria or was made up entirely, it's now official: the musical "Rebecca," which was supposed to finally open on Broadway this fall after having been postponed last spring, has been called off yet again due to a major financial shortfall. In a public statement, Karen Mason, who was to play the creepy housekeeper Mrs. Danvers, went out of her way to defend producer Ben Sprecher, who is largely being blamed for the show's downfall. She described him as "an ethical man," if not one who was able to pull the show together. 
 Soho Rep to stage 11-hour play at Public Theater Got 11 hours to spare? Soho Rep announced that it will stage "Life and Times: Episodes 1-4," an 11-hour work by the Nature Theatre of Oklahoma that will be part of the Public Theater's Under the Radar Festival. Described as "one unremarkable person's account through life," it sounds like a boring way to spend 11 hours. 
 'Hardbody' set for Broadway, 'Starcatcher' to close It was confirmed this week that "Hands on a Hardbody" will play the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. The new musical, based on the 1997 documentary of the same name, follows a group of Texans competing to win a truck by seeing which can keep his or her hand on it for the longest time. "Peter and the Starcatcher," currently playing at the Brooks Atkinson, will close in January.
