He will return there next season in the first-ever Broadway staging of the cult rock musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.” It had long been rumored that John Cameron Mitchell, the show’s book-writer and original star, would eventually play the role on Broadway. The Off-Broadway production ran for two years starting in 1998 and led to an acclaimed film version. 
 Langella to play King Lear at BAM It was inevitable that Frank Langella would someday play King Lear. Brooklyn Academy of Music announced Thursday that a staging of “King Lear” starring Langella, which will originate in the U.K. this fall, will play BAM in January and February. 
 Prince to replace Lynch in ‘Annie’ Many have been speculating that the Broadway revival of “Annie” would close after Jane Lynch, who is currently playing Miss Hannigan, finishes her limited run on July 14. However, the show’s producers announced Wednesday that Faith Prince, the much-adored musical comedy actress, will then take over the role. James Lapine, who directed the revival, commented in a statement that this is “a role she was born to play.” 
 Big box office gains following Tony Awards Last week’s box office figures showed substantial gains for both Tony winners and losers. “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike,” which won Best New Play, went up by $101,251 compared with the previous week. “Pippin,” which won Best Musical Revival, shot up $78,043. Even “Cinderella,” which did not win any major awards, went up an astounding $171,107.
