As first pointed out by The New York Times, that represents the musical’s lowest weekly gross to date. In a statement provided to the Times by press agent Rick Miramontez, the “fallout at the box office” is being attributed to the “very public trauma” involving dancer Daniel Curry, who was seriously injured during the Aug. 15 performance. 
 Andrea Martin leaving ‘Pippin’ next month It was revealed Wednesday that Tony winner Andrea Martin, who only recently returned to the smash revival of “Pippin” following a short vacation, will permanently depart the show on Sept. 22. It seems that Martin has landed a role on the TV sitcom “Working the Engels.” 
 ‘Drowsy Chaperone’ film with Rush to film next year Months ago, we reported the rumor that Geoffrey Rush, who starred in an Australian production of “The Drowsy Chaperone” back in 2010, would star in a film version of the musical. According to a report from Canadian Broadcasting Corp. News, production on the film is expected to begin next year. Rush would play Man in Chair, who narrates the plot of his favorite musical to the audience while playing its original cast album. 
 Williams’ ‘Play’ set to shutter The new Off-Broadway staging of Tennessee Williams’ “The Two-Character Play,” with Amanda Plummer and Brad Dourif, which certainly made for one of the strangest shows to premiere this summer, will close at the end of September. 
 Lange slated to return to Broadway in ‘Long Day’s’ Jessica Lange, who last appeared on Broadway almost a decade ago in a lambasted revival of “The Glass Menagerie,” recently told the Los Angeles Times that she will come back in a new production of Eugene O’Neill’s “Long Day’s Journey Into Night.” 
 Cuba Gooding Jr. departs ‘Bountiful’ With very little advance notice, Cuba Gooding Jr. left the Broadway production of “The Trip to Bountiful” on Tuesday night. The revival is set to run at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre through Oct. 9. The cast still includes Cicely Tyson, who won a Tony for her lead performance, as well as Vanessa Williams and Tom Wopat.
