The ex-con accused of raping a senior citizen in Central Park last week is back in court Wednesday and the public advocate wants better park security.
Investigators are still trying to figure out how David Albert Mitchell, 42, who has a long rap sheet including kidnapping, slipped under their radar and allegedly raped a 73-year-old bird-watcher near Strawberry Fields.
Public Advocate Bill de Blasio sent a letter over the weekend to Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly and Parks Department Commissioner Veronica White urging them to beef up a police presence in greenspaces.
