Bloomberg wants pres candidates to help immigrant businesses

In recent weeks, the mayor has gone after the presidential candidates for being passive on gun control, and now he has another bone to pick with them: immigration reform.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg released a report Tuesday during an economic conference in Chicago that showed that immigrant-based businesses are not only growing but bringing in more revenue.

The mayor said President Barack Obama and GOP presidential candidates needed to come up with concrete plans that would welcome and promote immigrant entrepreneurs.

"It's time for the two candidates to stop using immigration reform as a wedge issue and start listening to Democratic and Republican business leaders and mayors who agree on common sense reforms that would create jobs across the country," Bloomberg said in a statement.

Following the mass shootings in Colorado and Wisconsin, the mayor criticized the candidates for not speaking out on gun control.

According to the report, immigrant owned businesses employ one out of every 10 workers in privately-owned companies and contribute $100 million in income to the U.S. economy.
