Bob Turner sworn in for Anthony Weiner's old House seat

Political novice Bob Turner was sworn in Thursday in Washington, D.C., to represent the Brooklyn/Queens congressional seat once held by ex-Rep. Anthony Weiner.
The Republican congressman, a retired media exec from Breezy Point, was the surprise winner against Democrat David Weprin in Tuesday’s special election. House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) presided over the ceremony, which included Turner’s wife, Peggy, and their grandchildren.
“It’s with true humility that I accept this awesome responsibility,” said Turner, 70.
Turner will represent the Ninth Congressional District through 2012, after which the seat is widely expected to be eliminated because of redistricting.
