Style starts from within, says fashion and beauty expert Bobbie Thomas.
And she should know. The uber-popular style editor of NBC’s “Today” show started her career as a rape crisis counselor and has an educational background in psychology. And with her new book, “The Power of Style: Everything You Need to Know Before You Get Dressed Tomorrow,” she is discussing the link between looking good and feeling good — and how to achieve both.
“Where I started was wanting to empower women,” Thomas said.
Thomas’ book is broken into two parts: the first, dubbed “Change From Within,” focuses on an inner sense of self; the second, “Bringing the Inside Out,” has detailed advice for finding the best styles and colors for you, plus shopping tips and other pieces of practical info.
“A guy can break up with you, a bag can be last season ... but think about what’s really yours,” Thomas said. “Do you invest in yourself? Nobody can ever take [that] away from you.”
