A female body found near Indianapolis on Sunday is scheduled for an autopsy Tuesday to determine whether it's a missing college student from Westchester, published reports said.
Lauren Spierer, a 20-year-old student at Indiana University, was last seen June 3 after a night out with friends in Bloomington, Ind. Officials said the body, which was found in a creek, was so decomposed that they couldn't "determine any type of identity, not even a race at this point," Kendale Adams, Indianapolis police public information officer, told ABC affiliate WRTV.
Adams added: "Once we find out who she is, then we can backtrack and try to determine the events that led to her demise."
Bloomington police last week scaled down the search for Spierer, a native of Greenburgh, calling off the general searches and acting only on leads.
