Boyfriend held in March murder of Bensonhurst woman

A 51-year-old Bensonhurst man was awaiting arraignment Thursday after being arrested in connection with the murder of his live-in companion more than six months ago.

Witness statements eventually led to a confession by Richard Cagliostro, who was charged with weapons possession and second degree murder in the death of his girlfriend, Maryanne Rinato, 48, police said. Rinato was found dead in the couple's apartment at 6713 19th Ave. with a gunshot wound to the head on March 20.
