We got back from Ottawa late Wednesday night and I was definitely looking forward to sleeping in my own bed, especially after a rough Game 4. It’s been a pretty physical series and Torts [coach John Tortorella] gave us the day off from practice on Thursday. I didn’t do much — just took the day to just rest my body and mind and recoup for Game 5.

In Game 4, after going up 2-0 behind some great plays by Anton Stralman and Cally [Ryan Callahan], we had a tough time getting that next goal, which would’ve been huge. That’s behind us now though, and we can’t wait to get back to MSG for Game 5. Ottawa was a great playoff atmosphere in a very loud building, but we’re definitely looking forward to being back in front of our fans on Saturday night (7 p.m. on MSG). Playoff hockey, especially in a city like New York, has a completely different level of intensity. There’s more at stake right now. Being home, feeling the energy of the crowd, may be just what we need.

Returning to home ice tied 2-2 in the series is a scenario we have prepared for all season. With a collective mind-set of approaching each game one at a time, there isn’t a situation we haven’t trained for. Personally, my focus has always been to sacrifice myself for the team, and that is pretty much what drives each of us on this team. We all want to do and are willing to do whatever it takes to help to get the win for the team and the city of New York.
