Bronx man charged with murdering toddler

A Bronx man was charged with murder yesterday in the fatal beating of his girlfriend's 3-year-old daughter. Edgar Algarin, 26, allegedly attacked Anita Ortiz at 4:12 a.m. Saturday while he was babysitting her and her 5-year-old brother at their home, the New York Post said. The child was pronounced dead at Lincoln Hospital.
