Brooklyn prosecutor charged with punching, choking EMT
Authorities say a Brooklyn prosecutor punched and choked an emergency medical technician Saturday as he was being taken to a hospital.
Brooklyn assistant district attorney Michael Jaccarino was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court later Saturday on assault and other charges. His lawyer didn't immediately respond to phone and email messages. A message left at a possible relative's home wasn't immediately returned.
It's unclear why EMTs approached the 30-year-old as he walked on the Brooklyn Bridge around 1 a.m. Saturday.
Police say once Jaccarino was in an ambulance, he unstrapped himself from a stretcher. A court complaint says he hit a technician in the face and squeezed her neck with his hands.
She was treated for bruises.
Jaccarino has been suspended without pay from the DA's office. He has worked there since 2008.
