Brooklyn woman killed trying to cross subway tracks
A subway train in Brooklyn struck and killed a woman yesterday morning who was apparently trying to cross the tracks from one platform to the other, police said.
Shatonia Spencer, 23, of Brooklyn, was struck at about 5:30 a.m. by a southbound Q train at the Prospect Park station, a spokesman for the New York City Police Department said.
Witnesses saw the woman climb down from a platform and try to get to the other, a police source said.
"She ran across the tracks and got hit by the train," the spokesman said.
It was not clear why Spencer crossed the tracks.
