Busted brake light brings arrest for stolen car, plates
A broken taillight led to the arrest Sunday of a Far Rockaway woman on the Southern State Parkway. She is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and stolen license plates.
New York State Police said Amanda Battle, 35, of 442 Beach 44th St., was stopped in a white Ford Fusion about 8:20 p.m. after a trooper noticed her brake light was out and that she did not signal while changing lanes on the eastbound Southern State Parkway at Exit 40, the ramp to the Robert Moses Parkway.
During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered that the Maryland license plates on the vehicle had been reported stolen from New York City, and the vehicle had been reported stolen from Washington County, Md.
Police said Battle was charged with fourth-degree and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, as well as vehicle and traffic law violations. She was arraigned Monday in First District Court in Central Islip.
