Connecticut prosecutors say they won’t pursue their case against a Bronx, New York man who was accused of stalking Oprah Winfrey’s best friend, Gayle King.

The trial of 23-year-old Willie Hickson was scheduled to begin this month. He was arrested in 2008 outside King’s Greenwich home and charged with stalking and criminal trespass.

His lawyers say Hickson was simply trying to get a copy of a political expose he had written to Oprah.

Prosecutors nolled the charges during jury selection Monday, which means they will be dismissed if they are not refiled in a year.

Public defender Howard Ehring says he was told that King no longer wished to pursue the charges.

King is the editor at large of Winfrey’s “O, The Magazine” and hosts a satellite radio show.
