Discount retailer Century 21 will be moving near Lincoln Center to a space being vacated by Barnes & Noble.

Real estate agent Cushman & Wakefield says the department store has signed a 20-year lease for the four-story, 60,000-square-foot building.

Barnes & Noble announced Monday that it would leave its Lincoln Triangle location by the end of January. It cited higher rent for the decision.

Century 21 plans to open at the site sometime in fall 2011.

It has occupied a store in lower Manhattan, opposite the World Trade Center site, for 50 years. It will continue to operate there.

Cushman & Wakefield brokered the deal for the landlord Millennium Partners.

Barnes & Noble plans to find a new location on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
