Charlize Theron can now add "mom" to her resume.

The 36-year-old Academy Award winner "has adopted a child," a spokesperson for the actress
confirmed to amNewYork Wednesday. "She is the proud mom of a healthy baby boy named Jackson."

This is the first child for the blonde beauty, who split from her beau of nine years, Stuart Townsend, in 2010 and hasn't been linked to anyone of late.

As for the details on baby Jackson, a source close to Theron told Us Weekly that the little guy was born in the United States and is African-American.

"She has always wanted to be a mom - she is glad to be able to do it on her own now and is so happy to be a mom," the source told the magazine.

Theron nabbed an Oscar for her role as a serial killer in the 2003 film "Monster," and she was nominated for a Golden Globe and a SAG Award this year for playing a troubled writer in "Young Adult."

Additional details were not available as of press time.
