Fête Paradiso
Take a ferry over to Governors Island and a step back in time to vintage France this weekend at the world’s first festival of vintage French carnival rides and carousels. Fête Paradiso makes its American debut on Saturday and Sunday featuring a rare collection of carnival attractions from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including carousels, flying swings and a pipe organ, all of which you can take a go-around on yourself. And stock up on French carnival fare at a beer garden housed in a former bumper car pavilion from 1900. FREE ferries will run from Manhattan and Brooklyn and admission is FREE, though rides will run you $3 each. (Every Sat. & Sun. through Sept. 29, 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m., FREE, $3 rides, Governors Island, feteparadiso .com)
