Joey “Jaws” Chestnut devoured 62 hot dogs in 10 minutes Monday afternoon to win his fifth consecutive Nathan's Famous weiner-eating contest at Coney Island.

"I feel great," Chestnut, 27, said after winning the title, joking, “I’ll be hitting the Pepto Bismol later.” He ate nine more dogs than runner-up Patrick “Deep Dish” Bertoletti. Timothy “Eater X” Janus, of the East Village, came in third, chowing down 40 dogs.

But across town Takeru Kobayashi, a six-time former champ who was ineligible to participate for the second year due to a contract disagreement, beat Chestnut’s record, simultaneously downing 69 Nathans hot dogs at midtown restaurant 230 Fifth.

“I will be the best until I retire,” Kobayashi told amNewYork last week.

Judges were on hand to make sure he met the same conditions as the official competitors, a spokeswoman for the restaurant said, though she acknowledged his record was unofficial and may go unrecognized.

George Shea, spokesman for official contest organizer Major League Eating, dismissed Kobayashi’s feat.

“It’s like me saying I won the Boston marathon while I ran on a treadmill in my basement as I watched it on TV,” Shea said, adding, “the world hot dog eating champion is, always has been and always will be crowned In Coney Island and not in a rooftop bar.”

Earlier in the day, Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas scarfed 40 dogs – 10 ½ more than second-place Juliet Lee — to win the first women’s contest.

Both Chestnut and Thomas won $10,000.
