The Financial District will be getting an extra pop of fun during the dog days of summer.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Wednesday the start of Water Street Pops, a series of free events throughout the neighborhood that will last until Labor Day. The mayor has been working to revitalize the area following Superstorm Sandy and said it has a lot to offer visitors, residents and workers.
"Even as lower Manhattan has faced another challenge ... we are working to make sure it bounces back stronger than ever," the mayor said in a statement.
Some of the events include a Ben & Jerry's greek yogurt sampling, a beanbag toss contest and sunrise yoga with David Barton Gym.
