City Council asks government for help fighting bed bugs

The City Council yesterday urged the federal government to help in the city’s war on bedbugs, calling for additional funding for research into how best to kill the critters.
“Given the difficulty of exterminating bedbugs, we are calling upon the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to conduct further research,” the Council wrote.
The Council also wants strengthened regulations on pesticide use, which it says will curb the epidemic.
