City spotlights downtown Manhattan hotspots for tourism campaign
The city's tourism wing wants visitors to head south when they come to the Big Apple.
NYC & Company added the Financial District, Battery Park City and other neighborhoods below Chambers Street as part of its Neighborhood x Neighborhood campaign Wednesday.
City representatives say that while the area is already a huge draw for tourists who visit the stock exchange and September 11th Memorial, there are tons of venues for shopping and dining.
"Visitors from all over the world continue to be amazed by the vibrancy and diversity one of America's oldest neighborhoods," George Fertitta, the CEO of NYC & Company said in a statement.
Some of the downtown spots highlighted in the campaign include Blue Spoon Coffee Company restaurant, Pasanella and Son Vintners wine shop and the Stone Street Tavern.
Other communities featured so far in the Neighborhood x Neighborhood program include the South Bronx, Bushwick and Williamsburg.
