Hoping to stop scalpers who sell tickets to music and sporting events at sky-high mark-ups, the Consumer Affairs Committee is meeting Friday to form a plan that aims to help those unable to secure tickets online to major events, which often can sell out in minutes.

They committee will also discuss a bill from Deputy Majority Leader Leroy G. Comrie requiring 15% of an event's tickets be made available at the on-site box office, which he said will help those who miss out on online buying.

And taking aim at the music industry, the tradition of "hold backs" -- wherein musicians arrange for blocks of reserved tickets to be sold last-minute at premium prices -- will also be under fire.
