Classic soul singer Charles Bradley headlines Great GoogaMooga

The Great GoogaMooga is all about variety. The food choices go from bacon and burritos to lobster and granola, and the range of musical acts is just as broad. There's hip-hop (The Roots), pop (Hall & Oates), hard rock (Van Halen and Led Zeppelin cover bands) and classic soul, which is represented by Brooklyn's own Charles Bradley, who released his debut album, "No Time For Dreaming," last year at the age of 62.

amNewYork spoke with Bradley.

You've been performing for decades. Did you think you'd make an album? I always had my hopes. When you have something in your heart, you just keep going. Hope is the key to life.

You worked as a cook while trying to succeed in music. Is there a connection? An artist is an artist. When you're cooking, you want the food to look good and taste good. Same with music. You want it to go out and hit the public and make them feel good. It's all the same.

What are your favorite dishes? Everybody liked me to make lasagna. My mother liked me to make chicken a la king. Personally, I love seafood.

Do you have memories of Prospect Park from growing up in Brooklyn? I used to play hooky in Prospect Park. The truant officer would chase us. They never caught me though!
