• CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival is an annual music festival hosted by the College Music Journal, a publication on the vanguard of the college music scene.

• CMJ 2010 runs from Oct. 19-23 at more than 75 venues throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn.

• More than 1,200 artists are slated to perform. No way you’ve already heard of all of them. Stop telling people that.

• This is the 30th year of the music festival. The average age of many of the attendees and performers is well below 30.

• The youngest CMJ performer this year, Maia of Smoosh (above), just turned 14.

• The “main office” of the festival is located at NYU, near Washington Square Park.

• This is the 16th year of the film festival.

• You cannot attend two concerts at once, no matter how badly you want to. That’s just how space-time works.

• Drunkenly requesting “Freebird” over and over is rude, no matter how disappointing the band is. Don’t do it.
