One Girl Cookies

One Girl Cookies

January inevitably comes with an excess of diet and fitness goals, but come on - at some point this year (or this month), you're bound to indulge. We suggest doing it by whipping up a recipe from this soon-to-be-released cookbook: "One Girl Cookies: Recipes for Cakes, Cupcakes, Whoopie Pies and Cookies From Brooklyn's Beloved Bakery."

The book's 67 recipes (and mouthwatering photos) come courtesy of Dawn Casale and David Crofton, owners of the 11-year-old Cobble Hill bakery by the same name. Delights range from winter spice cookie sandwiches with orange cream to espresso caramel squares to an apricot, honey and pistachio tart. The final chapter focuses on breakfast, with recipes for currant yogurt scones, honey apricot granola, buttermilk biscuits and the like.

"One Girl Cookies" ($22.50) arrives in bookstores Jan. 10 and is available for pre-order at One Girl Cookies (68 Dean St., Cobble Hill, 212-675-4996).
