Colorado battery on Amazin's wish list: Report

The Mets find themselves in a position they did not expect to be in within the trade market at the MLB All-Star break - as potential buyers instead of sellers.

While last year's team offloaded Carlos Beltran as the July 31 trade deadline approached, this year's surprisingly competitive unit is looking to bolster its ranks by adding Colorado catcher Ramon Hernandez and reliever Matt Reynolds, according to ESPN New York.

The site quoted an unnamed Major League source that said, "I think Hernandez will be a Met," and said that general manager Sandy Alderson wanted to add Reynolds to the deal. The team's interest in the catcher was first reported by the New York Post on Saturday.

Hernandez, 36, is currently on the disabled list rehabbing from a hand injury He's hitting .215 with four homers and 15 RBI on the season.

Reynolds, 27, is 3-0 with a 3.38 ERA this season and would provide a nice lift to a struggling Mets' relief corps, which currently has the worst bullpen ERA in the NL at 4.94.
