A Columbia University football player was charged Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a fellow student while using racial slurs.
Chad Washington, 19, allegedly assaulted an Asian student outside a Columbia building on West 113th Street.
Washington, who is black, allegedly grabbed the victim by his collar and pushing up against the wall.
The victim didn't suffer any injuries, police said.
Washington, who is a lineman on the school's football team, was arrested Tuesday night and charged with assault and harassment charges, the Manhattan DA said. A judge released him on his own recognizance and ordered him back to court on July 8.
A school spokesman said it couldn't comment on ongoing investigations.
