The iPhone app Roadify, which gives live, user-generated updates on subway,
bus and traffic conditions, won top honors Thursday in the city’s second annual NYC BigApps 2.0 competition.
The app’s six developers, who are based in Park Slope, took home $10,000 in prize money.
“We were blown away, ” Dylan Goelz, one of the developers told amNewYork. “It’s a beautiful thing, and we thank the people in New York for giving us the honor.”
Other apps that won top prizes include Sportaneous, which helps users
organize sports games citywide, and Parking Finder, which locates
parking spots.
The developers of those apps earned $5,000 and $2,000, respectively.
Developers are “helping us strengthen the connection between New Yorkers and their government,” Mayor Michael Bloomberg said.
