NEW YORK (AP) — Former Coney Island hot dog-eating champion Takeru Kobayashi has failed to break a world record for speed pizza-eating.
Kobayashi was trying to eat a 12-inch pizza in under 1 minute, 45 seconds. His time was 2 minutes, 3 seconds.
According to the rules of the challenge Saturday in Brooklyn, he had to use a knife and fork.
Kobayashi blamed his failure to break the record on the pizza. He said it was too soft and difficult to eat.
