Computers will count your votes in this year's city elections, not people

The city's Board of Elections has come up with a high-tech way designed to make sure this year's elections run smoothly.
The board approved a measure Tuesday that mandates all votes in the primary and general election be counted digitally.
BOE workers will use laptops to read portable memory devices built into the voting machines to tally the count soon after the polls close, according to a BOE spokeswoman.
The board has been criticized for mishandling the tally of last month's Democratic Primary. A City Council hearing is scheduled next month to look into the board's operations for that race.
