A construction worker was impaled by a steel rod yesterday at the World Trade Center site, officials said.
The 37-year-old man, whose injuries were not life-threatening, was working on 4 World Trade Center when he lost his footing and fell about five or six feet onto a steel rebar that punctured his side, according to the FDNY.
The worker, whose name was not released, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, which didn't respond to requests for comment.
The injury came a day after the final steal beam at the 72-story building was lifted into place. It is expected to open in 2013.
