Cops nab sex offender who allegedly touched girls in library

Police nabbed a repeat, "high-risk" sex offender accused of inappropriately touching two young girls in a Queens library.
Joel Grubert, 49, was arrested Sunday on sex abuse charges for allegedly touching a 6-year-old and a 9-year-old girl on June 23 at the library, located at 41-17 Main St. A police spokeswoman did not know if the two girls were related.
A police report was filed last week, and the NYPD on Saturday released a photograph and a video of a man they say is Grubert walking down an aisle of the library. He was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Saturday on charges of sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
Court records show that Grubert, of Brooklyn, is registered as a level three predicate sex offender, after being convicted of having child pornography in 2004, when he was sentenced to two-to-four years in prison.
Grubert is prohibited from driving, drinking alcohol and he has participated in a sex offender treatment program, records show. He also has a curfew.
Queens prosecutors were not immediately available for comment Sunday.
