Cops: Queens gunman leaves 2 dead, 1 hurt
A man opened fire on a crowded city bus in Queens on Friday, killing one man and wounding another -- minutes after he had shot another man in a nearby public-housing complex, New York City police said.
Police said the man shot his first victim in a housing complex at 163-11 Foch Boulevard. That man died after falling or jumping out of a window, and it was not immediately clear if he died from the drop or the gunshot, officials said.
Minutes later, the gunman boarded the Q111 bus, traveling on Archer Avenue between Parsons Boulevard and 160th Street, and began shooting again, hitting two more men.
One died as terrified passengers tried to escape. The other was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was in stable condition.
The gunman was arrested nearby with a 9-mm pistol, about a mile and a half from the complex.
Police said the dead man at the complex was 18 and the dead man on the bus was 36. They did not give an age for the wounded man. The shooter is 34.
Police did not release names, though it seemed likely last night they knew the shooter's: He left his ID at the housing complex. With Nicholas Spangler
