A city teacher was beaten to death Tuesday, and cops said they were questioning her 19-year-old son as a possible suspect Tuesday night.

Police and EMS workers rushed to the woman's Hell's Kitchen apartment after receiving a 911 call just before 9:30 a.m. that she was being assaulted, police said.

A 911 dispatcher reported hearing "screaming and thrashing in the background," according to an FDNY spokesman, who added that the woman said she believed the 19-year-old man was having a seizure.

Cops found Karyn Kay, 63, lying on the floor with "severe head trauma." Her son was taken into custody at the scene and was still being questioned Tuesday night, police said.

Police did not comment on the fire department's report that the man may have had a seizure.

Kay was rushed to Cornell Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said they were still investigating Tuesday night, and had yet to make any arrests.
