Cops, rep deny reports of Cruise's West Side car chase

Tom Cruise's reps are denying the actor had a real-life "Mission Impossible" chase scene in Manhattan afternoon before hopping on a helicopter with daughter Suri.

According to the Daily News, the father and daughter got into a SUV, while dodging a host of photographers and journalists and headed north on West Side Highway.

The paparazzi reportedly followed Cruise in at least 10 cars, six bikes and motorcycles as his SUV allegedly raced uptown before getting off the 10th Avenue exit where Cruise and Suri boarded the aircraft at the W. 29th Street heliport.

"It's false. Never happened." Cruise's publicist Amanda Lundberg said in an email.

The police said they received no calls that the 50-year-old actor caused "near accidents," as reported, or was speeding.

Cruise has been in town visiting the 6-year-old for the first time since his divorce from Katie Holmes.

Suri has had a long week while shuffling between her parents, especially when it comes to traveling in four wheels.

On Monday, the Mercedes that was chauffeuring the girl and her 33-year-old mom was caught in a fender bender in midtown. No one was hurt.

Holmes and Cruise reached a settlement to their divorce last week and published reports say she has primary custody of Suri.
