Cops are seeking a gunman who shot a 27-year-old man Saturday night in the Edenwald section of the Bronx while children skipped nearby.

In the shocking video released by police (see below), the victim is seen standing on a sidewalk outside a deli at 4043 Laconia Ave. around 8:05 p.m. as two small kids skip ahead of their adult caretakers. A gunman, his arm outstretched and holding a pistol, runs up and shoots the standing man in the chest, as the children reverse direction and bystanders bolt. The unidentified victim also runs away. He was eventually taken to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition.

"A lot of people think you can't do anything after you've been shot, but your adrenalin is really pumping and often you can," explained an NYPD spokesman. The face of the gunman, who was dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and red sneakers, isn't clear, "but maybe someone might know this person was upset that night and had a gun and will call in," said the spokesman.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477); text a tip to CRIMES (274637) and then enter TIP577, or log on to www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
